One of the novels I am working on is a retelling of a fairytale, the old Scottish ballad of Tam Lin. Tam Lin is the story of a young woman who is warned to stay away from Carteret Hall but goes there anyway. When she plucks a rose on the grounds, a man appears, a man who has been captured by fairies and taken under the hill to live with them so they can use him as a human sacrifice, to pay their tithe to hell. The adventure begins when Janet decides she wants to get Tam Lin back from the fairies and figures out how to thwart the fairy queen and get her man. Taking an ancient ballad and bringing it in the twenty-first century is challenging but lots of fun. Instead of an ancient Scottish lady, my heroine is a young CPA. And rather than being a captive of the fair folk, Thomas Lane in my story is a member of a notorious biker gang. How will Janet get Thomas out of the gang and into her life? Stay tuned!
